This case study details the planning and execution of a highly successful natural hair show I organized in Fayetteville, NC of June 2012. I created a social group called earlier that year “Team Natural Hair” and decided to create the opportunity for people to come together. In this role I planned, organized, promoted, and communicated with the venue, speakers, vendors, and sponsors involved to make this event successful. The event aimed to celebrate natural hair, educate attendees on hair care, and foster a sense of community.
Date: June 30, 2012 | Time: 3PM – 8 PM
Venue: Ramada Plaza by Wyndham ( Formerly Holiday Inn Bordeaux)
Experts in the field of natural hair care shared their knowledge and experiences, offering valuable insights into maintaining and styling natural hair. They spoke on various topics, such as healthy hair care routines, styling for different hair types, and overcoming natural hair challenges. These sessions were highly informative and well-received by the audience.
Attendees had the opportunity to purchase natural hair care products, accessories, and apparel from a curated selection of vendors. This allowed attendees to purchase high-quality products and discover new brands.
Professional hairstylists showcased the versatility and beauty of natural hair through a live fashion show featuring a variety of styles on their models
A panel discussion with industry professionals and stylists allowed attendees to ask questions, share experiences, and gain valuable insights.
The success of this event wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of amazing sponsors! I was thrilled to partner with a diverse group of companies, from established industry leaders like Carol’s Daughter and Curls to exciting new brands I discovered online. I also had the pleasure of collaborating with fantastic local businesses from across North Carolina.
We showcased our gratitude to all our sponsors by featuring them prominently in our event program and giving them a shoutout on our Facebook page. From them we received products and promotional items to include in the “Swag Bags” for attendees. This was a fantastic way to connect our attendees with the brands they love and introduce them to some hidden gems in the beauty and hair care industry.
I organized raffle prizes and giveaways to engage attendees and provide additional excitement. I coordinated with some vendors and sponsors to secure items for the giveaway bags. Raffles were prizes that I put together to give to attendees throughout the event. Each guest was given a ticket
I was able to give the first 100 guests a FREE swag bag that consisted of samples sizes of natural hair shampoos & conditioners, nail files, shea butter creams, promotional business cards, pens, and sticky pads.
The natural hair show was a resounding success, drawing a large audience and generating positive feedback. The show empowered attendees to embrace their natural beauty with confidence. The success story extends beyond attendance numbers. It’s reflected in the countless attendees who continue their natural hair journeys, inspiring others to do the same. This case study serves as a testament to the power of community and the transformative potential of celebrating diversity.
